What is this growing in garden?

Is it knotweed? Just a bit concerned as it’s come from next door and shows no signs of stopping. Thanks

Looks like mares tail to me. It's a bugger to get rid of.

I've always known it as horsetail. Seriously prehistoric thing and survived when the dinosaurs didn't.

It's horsetail. Horrible stuff with a massive rhizome root system. Very, very difficult to get rid of. Two things which can help are improving the soil - it apparently prefers poor soil - and regular mowing of it's in grass.
