Beans taking ages to germinate

This is the 2nd batch of runner beans we've tried to grow. The first lot i left a few weeks and just seemed to rot and not do anything

This lot are doing nothing at all and it's two different varieties this time.
They are on a sunny windowsill, kept moist, inside my kitchen.

I don't remember having trouble before when i've grown beans (not for a few years) but everything else is sprouting up and they are not! The kids (and me) are getting impatient!
What am I doing wrong?!

Annoying! Are they in date? You could try putting a clear plastic bag over them to increase the temp?

Too early. I never start beans off until mid April because otherwise they often fail to germinate and rot.

It's very early!
Wait a month.

It's too early. If they germinate they grow so quickly they would be ready to plant long before frost finishes.
End of April is fine.

The soil needs to be warm to sow beans. Put the packet down and step away from the watering can. Come back in 4-6 weeks.

Thanks all. I've learnt something new - i'm too early and eager!
