I picked up a box of nerine bulbs ( tubers?) in Waitrose. I’ve never grown them before and was about to put them in a planter when I read on the back that they sometimes don’t flower the first year.

This would influence where I plant them.

Has anybody experience to say how likely they are to flower this year please?

I love Nerines.

Half of mine flowered the first year. I planted about 30 bulbs.

They like a warm sheltered sunny spot against a wall or fence, well draining soil. Mine get sun from first thing in morning until early afternoon, so I was concerned they weren't getting quite enough and was very pleased to see the flower stalks appear in september. It was really sunny last year though.

Hope this helps.

Oh and also they hate to be disturbed so a bed is better than planter if you can.

Thank you.
I will rethink where I plant them.
