Peter Beale roses, as good as David Austin but cheaper

For anybody looking to buy roses I thought I would post my recent experiences of Peter Beale roses.

All five I bought (3 bare root, 2 potted) have arrived in excellent condition, very well packed and in just a few days.

Also the Peter Beale rose directory knocks the David Austin one into a cocked hat. It’s my new favourite book to browse and dream of all I would buy if only I had more space!

Their customer service is excellent too. One rose I ordered what apparently not up to their quality when they came to dispatch so I was offered either a refund or any other rose of my choice with no extra cost if the one I chose was more expensive.

I still love David Austin roses but these days we all need to save some money where we can.

After a few years they all look the same. I have both.

I’ve been looking at Peter B roses as they seem to have more of the old fashioned ones. I’m going to do a bulk buy this autumn/winter.

There's a dark chic pink called 'my dad' Pete Beale have it. Very successful for my neighbour so I'm ordering that.

Do you get them from a Walford market stall?

I found the ones at my local garden centre were not as fragrant as the DA ones, but the flowers did look really nice. Might look again

I had to think about that for a minute! 😂

Depends on the variety.
Lots of heavily scented roses available. I never buy any rose which hasn’t got a really good scent.

ahh, seeing this thread pop up has made me very happy! I am no good at gardening - can't stay still long enough - but my nan lived round the corner from Peter Beales, and used to enjoy a cuppa with the man himself in his cafe most days. 😊

(so sorry for the derail - it just brought me so much joy to see you enjoying Peter Beales roses, and remembering my kids when they were tiny walking round Peter Beales garden centre with my nan)

My mother had 'golden showers', ha.
Very prolific yellow climbing rose

Probably from Woolies knowing my mum.

I had a DA Queen Elizabeth at Christmas and that's done well.
