Container plants while absent in summer.

Planning ahead, we are away for June and July. What flowering plants can I put in my container tubs and troughs that won't require much watering? Usually it's geraniums, but they're rather thirsty plants and can burn.

I think you need a friendly neighbour to water for you while you are away.

We have an irrigation system for our container plants but it’s not an exact science and I wouldn’t use one for more than a couple of weeks. For such a long period, a reliable neighbour sounds like the only viable option.

Unless you get some sort of timer system that is attached to your mains water and use capillary matting, very few things will survive in a pot for two months at the height of summer without any water. How about cactuses and other succulents?
