Beetles on my strawberries, Help

I have just found these beetle like things on one of my strawberry plants, I blew them off and the stepped on them, so those particular one won't be coming back.

Does anyone know what they are and will they damage my strawberries.

There are lots of things that love eating strawberries. As far as I know, the reason they are called stawberries is that the traditional way of growing them was to put a layer of straw between the soil and the fruit to try and stop things crawling up an eating them. We have a very thick layer of bark mulch under ours and it does work (a bit). Good luck!
