Ideas what to plant here

I took out the bamboo against the fence and looking for some colour and to grow to fence height. Ideas please! Thanks.

Deciduous or evergreen? Shrub or climber? Which way does the fence face - does it get much sun?
For instance there are lots of lovely varieties of weigela, but it's bare in the winter. Or there's pieris, which is evergreen, and also comes in lots of varieties.

Ans maybe a daphne for scent near the seating area.

You didn't name any preferences, so I'd go for evergreen climbers. Think ivy, honeysuckle, star jasmine, clematis, etc. If there is more area where you'd like to plant something else, you can use a landscaping software to draw a plan and see how it all would fit together. A lot is depending on the direction of light and how much of it the fence area usually gets.
