Absolute beginner, please can you recommend some EASY plants for pots, which I can't kill?

I would love some cheerful flowering plants for my front garden, along the lines of perhaps lobelia etc, but I'm really clueless and I don't know what's easy to grow (easy as in grows happily by itself with occasional/daily watering) do you have any recommendations?

I'm planning on getting a couple of long low tubs to plant them in, against the wall. It's a fairly sheltered patch, gets sun in the morning, mostly shaded the rest of the day.

Thanks!!

petunias or surfinias are good but make sure you pick the dead heads off as more will grow and therefore it will keep producing flowers

Nice tough stuff for tubs are herbs - sage, rosemary, thyme, oregano etc are especially tough.

bizzie lizzies, bidens and marigolds if you want annual stuff

anything you can buy at a diy store in those multipacks is going to be pretty OK for this year thouhg - just plant them and water them every so often, and when they die at the end of the year just chuck them

Thanks! They look nice. Anyone else got recommendations?
