best time to move a rose

Have a rose I need to move - but it’s important I don’t kill it…
Its near a tree, which has grown much broader, resulting in rose growing out at odd angles, so I need to move it to a clearer spot, but when and how should I do it?

Do it as soon as you can. Dig out as wide and deep as you can to get as much root as you can. It won’t make a nice rootball, so don’t panic if it all falls apart! Prune back hard to 15cm or so. Replant straight away in a new spot. If you can see the point where it was grafted, plant this about 3cm below the soil level. If not replant at the depth it was before. Backfill your hole, firming as you go. Give it a good mulch of compost or manure. Keep it well watered for the next two summers. A feed once growth starts would be a good idea.
