I don’t want to buy any more bags of compost.

I'm interested in what comes up here.
We previously had 3 massive composters which we inherited when we moved into a house, we had rats in them (and chickens elsewhere in the garden so we supplied the rats with food and lodging).
The rats route in was from underneath, I always wanted to place them on big patio slabs to prevent the rats access but never got around to it.
I have a much smaller garden now and would like a composter, but not the rats.

Actually what id really like is a small hot composter but the ones I've seen are very expensive.

We only put peelings/garden clippings in ours, but we still get rats come in from underneath.

Many years ago, but grandparents had one like this off the ground and used to turn the handle daily. I always thought it was worms etc that helped break compost down, so not sure how this design works, but they grew the most amazing veg.

Hot bin works pretty well but it is made of plastic. Mine have lasted 10+ years and still do a good job.
