Chocolate Vine

I’m temped to try growing a chocolate vine (Akebia quinata) from seed.

I’d like to plant one into a container on a patio to grow up to and over a first floor balcony. 3m above and 3 m across. What ever I grow needs to be hardy and able to cope in a windy site in full sun.

Has anyone tried this from seed - or have any tips for how to manage it one it’s growing (is it true they can be invasive?). Or can anyone recommend another plant which might fit the bill?

I have one in a very windy spot that also gets full sun. I didn’t grow it from seed though, I got a small plant off eBay.
Its been in the pot 3 years and is now up the pergola support and started to grow horizontally across, so it is fast growing, but it wouldn’t be difficult to keep trimmed back I don’t think. The vines aren’t really thick or anything so would be easy to prune.
