Dahlias - accidentally split tubers

First time digging up dahlias today and didn’t realise how big the tubers were so accidentally cut into a few of the tubers forming part of a bigger clump 😳
How do I deal with this? Will the sliced tubers expose the others in the clump to rot?
I’ve washed the dirt off and left drying on a wire rack indoors and plan to store in the shed or underneath the stairs in plastic pots stuffed with newspaper.

Pull off the bits you've sliced. You shouldn't wash them either, brush the dirt off.

You get free extra plants next year. This is how you divide them so as long as the but bits are big enough you just get new plants.

Oops, will make sure they’re properly dry before storing!
