Hi can anyone advise ?
we have an olive tree and this year it’s produced olives but they have gone from green to a dark colour but mushy inside . Should they look like that ?
we are too scared to eat them ..

Olives always go dark. Sounds like yours are too overripe now.

Don't eat them from the tree. Trust me on that one.

Dark means they're fully ripe, BUT!!!! You cannot eat them straight off the tree, they'll taste horrible! You have to cure them first (soaking in brine for about 40 days- I can't remember the finer points of the process).

I tried one from a tree once, can concur they're horrible.

The salting didn't work for me either, it just made them horrible and salty (probably user error).

Anyway OP the fruits are just ripe like on any fruit tree. Leave them on for decorative purposes, they'll fall off eventually.
