a silly question about courgette plants

Yes, once the courgettes start to swell. I did it about every two weeks.

we have 4 plants with some teeny tiny courgettes just starting to appear so am hoping for a good crop- though looks like the slugs have been at the plants damn them!

My garden appears to be World HQ for snails.

oh we have plenty of snails too
dh's current strategy is to go round picking them off all the plants-dd likes playing with them but can get a bit over-enthusiastic and end up covered in mushed snail

that's gross isn't it? can't decide if it's better or worse than using slug pellets...
