Dog and Allergy friendly Christmas trees.

We have always liked having potted Christmas trees that end up being planted in the garden after a couple of years. One year we had one my husband was allergic too. The past 4 years we have given them a miss due to having a labrador puppy. Purcprevious dogs have not been bothered by the trees, but as we have very old glass ornaments, I didn't want to risk it. This year though we have decided the time is right. Please can any kind MNetters suggest the best type of potted tree with regards to the dog and husband situation. I think it might have been a spruce he was allergic to it had very hard, light coloured needles which shed an awful lot. The dog would not be left alone with the tree. At least not initially. Any recommendations gracefully received. I was thinking a fir of some sort. TIA.

Nordmann fir? It isn't a variety of spruce. Forestry England suggest it is a good one for allergies.
