Is that Chinese lantern plants?

Agapornis · 26/09/2025 16:14

Hmm, I'm not sure Chinese lanterns has new young leaves with a purple tinge? Also I'm more familiar with the other physalises (the yellow berry, and tomatillos) but shouldn't the plant have fruit/red lanterns by now?

Because of the purple tinge, maybe a salvia? As in, one of the massive family of salvias.

I thought salvia, too.

I think that might be a philadelphus (also known as mock orange).

Interesting. The leaves / general shape do look similar.
This one was in Regents Park. I like the upright habit, and the foliage.
Coincidentally, I've been looking into philadelphus as the fragrance sounds lovely! Maybe I'll give it a go.
