Colour and interest in raised beds

I (ok DH) has hacked back a rather overzealous shrub (a border follow with big yellow flowers) and we are left with some big empty gaps in the raised beds. What could I put in that will have some colour or interest over the winter but won’t grow massively tall and bushy? There are some bulbs in there that will turn up in spring. We already have quite a few hebe things that are now huge (should I prune them?).

any ideas would be helpful. South facing garden in the East Midlands. Soil is soil and compost, it’s a tall raised bed dividing a patio from the lawn.

Many thanks!

Heucheras. Evergreen and come in a variety of colours. Also Hellebores, also ever green but flower for a long time in the winter

Thanks! I have a hellebore elsewhere in the garden, which I could move. Do you know if they cope well with moving?

I’ve bought and planted (well I directed DH after he got off the ladder from dealing with his pressure wisteria) some heucheras and something pink that isn’t a heather from Tesco. Thanks, the selection of heucheras I got are lovely! The leaf colours do just what I wanted.
