If you had Japanese knotweed growing on your land would you hope someone tells you, or does it open a difficult ‘can of worms’?

I'm not sure how you would not know? But if a neighbour had it I'd definitely be wanting them to get it dealt with.

Japanese Knotweed grows very fast and would take over the entire garden if not tackled, so the home owner would not remain in blissful ignorance for very long! I think it's better to tell them, because it should be easier to remove it when it's only a few small plants and rhizomes, rather than when the whole garden is riddled with it.

It is better to know about it. It can be dealt with and isn't all that expensive to resolve just takes a long time.

I’d want to know.

Dabberlocks · 30/08/2025 21:31

I'd want to know too.

Ok I’ll break the news, very gently…
