Moving and dividing geums now?

I planted some Geum Mai Tai a couple of years ago and they’re not thriving. I think where they are is just far too hot.

Do you think if I gave them a good water, I could lift (and divide them?) and move them to pots in a cooler spot? Then I’d replant next spring when I figure out where to put them. Or is that just stupid in the middle of an absurdly hot summer?!

I wouldn't. Wait till. September and they will have a much better chance of surviving. Or even better wait till spring when you can put them straight where they are going.
