These are in a local town centre they look amazing.

I think they might be petunias but I’m not sure

There are petunias - they might even be surfinias as the flower looks quite small.

@yodaforpresident thanks - can I replicate these in my own hanging baskets? Would they be trailing varieties or something?

Yes, you can get trailing petunias - most garden centres will sell them, but it might be too late this summer to buy them.

@Peaceandlabradors (love the username. I have a black lab 🥰). Top tip. My favourite thing at the moment is reverse image searching on google. It’s so handy. I’ve also realised my phone has a side button that does it automatically so I’m forever snapping pics of things to find out more 😆 just for future reference if you have access to these things.

They are a variety of petunia called "million bells" here in the US.

Thanks all

Thank you lovely Yoda 😍we have ordered 15 pots as we have just brought 3 lovely huge hanging baskets to put up - a lovely pop of colour at the bottom of the garden and a good bargain!

Fantastic, they really are a lovely flower. I have them in stone planters with salvia and dwarf cosmos. They drop the spent flowers themselves too, so no need to deadhead like you would have to with petunias.

@yodaforpresident

is this normal? Supposedly 9 cm plants we ordered 15 and put 5 on each hanging basket cost over £40 they just look very underwhelming? We have watered them and given them a nice basket and I’ve put 5 plants in each one. Feel a bit disappointed. I know they were half price but some are very very small and look pretty lame to be honest. Thanks

Calibrachoa also known as Million Bells.

Oldraver · 14/08/2025 19:33

It really is way passed the time for planting them so imagine you got the dregs

Peaceandlabradors · 14/08/2025 20:30

Umm even so they are a bit crap for £3.50 plus each per plant

They look a bit small but green - I would give them some plant food and hang them somewhere sunny. They should grow quite quickly and be a reasonable size in 3/4 weeks.
