Flower bed advice

So I know this looks ridiculous at the minute but I needed to do something with a patch of grass here so dug a bed.

How would you go about extending it? I was thinking of two more semi circles of different sizes sort of interlinked on each side? I don’treally want to take the Erigeron out

I would just do massive 1.5 meter deep bed the whole length of the fence and leave the erigeron where it is.

Agree with the poster above. Beds need to be deeper than you expect to give impact. Also consider mowing - doing lots of fiddy shapes might look great on paper but tend to be a bugger with the mower!

Thanks. DH said that about the mowing. A big bed (would need to taper as there are steps into the garden on the left) would probably be a long term plan! Might just build in up in sections!

Do the edge in serpentine curves rather than in semicircles. If you have a hosepipe, lay it out on the ground where you think you'd like the bed to go, and then look at it from all angles, including upstairs windows. Then you can move it about until you're happy. Use string if you have no hosepipe.

Also, remember that many plants will flop over away from a fence and towards the front of a bed, so you need to make allowances for that otherwise you will be squashing them with your mower.
