Leather gardening gloves...how to clean?

DP bought me brilliant gloves last year. At first I was very careful with them but as I am a mucky bugger they are filthy!!

What would be the best way to wash them? I've tried just rinsing in warm water but did not get very clean.

All suggestions welcome EM

I once heard an 'expert' say that leather gloves could be cleaned by washing them in baby shampoo whilst wearing them (to prevent shrinkage). I've done this once or twice for my posh leather gardening gloves - it doesn't get them fantastically clean but it does get the worst off. My biggest mistake was leaving them out in the garden to get chewed by fox cubs!

Thanx for the cleaning tip, I'll try it later.
