Is this a weed? Should I be pulling it out?

Been growing some little oak trees from acorns I found last autumn and they are doing well, but have this weird thing coming up in both of my pots with them, which also looks like it’s coming from an acorn!

Any ideas what it is?

Looks a bit like a hazel seedling. Could it be growing from a hazelnut rather than an acorn?

Another vote for Hazel. Keep it. They're adorable and don't get too big.

Just googled and you are right!! It looks exactly like that. How on earth did 2 of them grow from planting acorns? That is very weird.

Do you have squirrels in the area? They often forget where they have buried nuts for the winter. Magpies hide food away for later too.
