Struggling to find any in garden centres or supermarkets up here in Scotland.
Anyone else?

Well you will have trouble - they won't be getting new stock of annuals in now. They will have been on sale for what - three months already, and most people will have already bought what they need.

Well done most people!

If you'd bought them earlier, they'd be nearly done now.
There'll be batches of winter flowering plants coming in soon.
I like to get trays of pansies that keep flowering later and I don't have to water them as much

Autumn will arrive, as usual, on the 18th August. Some say it already has.

I seem to think that even at this time in summer I could always get stuff like pansies to refresh a patio container planted up earlier.

I bought impatiens and pelargoniums at Home Bargains last week. They are doing splendidly. Yes the season is advancing, but pelargoniums flower almost until Christmas here (London), so still plenty of mileage to be had. They also had dahlias, petunias etc. You won’t get the same range as you would in May, but beggars can’t be choosers ☺️

Maggiethecat · 01/08/2025 22:41

Defo not being choosy! There’s been nil, nada, zilch at the places I’ve tried. Am going to try a big Asda tomorrow!

May and June are about it for annuals. Winter flowering pansies will turn up in September, usually.

Asda to the rescue! 2 trays of petunias for £6. They look fairly decent too. Heard staff discussing discounting the ropey looking ones later 😂
