Liriope and slugs

Bought some Liriope for a difficult patch under a tree in my front garden. Apparently bombproof, can’t be killed, love dry shade etc.

Snails are completely destroying them. The snails also eat my dahlias and campanulas, which is not a huge surprise, but Liriope actually appear on various “slug resistant plants” lists. They are currently all wrapped in copper mesh, which is working for now, but do slugs eat them less as they get established? Or was the slug resistance a bit of a fib?

Slugs/snails prefer to eat the newer leaves on Liriope, so they should become less of an issue with time as the plants mature. There's no guarantee though - I planted Brunnera (also meant to be resilient to the little bastards!) in a client's garden, & they were razed to the ground overnight!! Yet they're thriving in another client's garden just a few doors away ... 🤷‍♀️
