What plants can I put on my decking?

I’m clearing up my tip of a decked area. I’m currently washing all the outdoor cushion covers, I’m going to sweep and wash the deck and I’d like to put some plants out there that will liven it up and make it look nice.
I am the worst person when it comes to plants so I’m tempted to get fake ones but then told myself not to be silly.
Please can someone help me with really low maintenance large plants? That won’t die over winter?

Do you know what direction the deck faces? Until you know how much sun/shade it’s hard to know what will be best.

West facing. We get the sun all day on parts of it and half a day on the rest.

Get the biggest pots you can find. Plastic so they are light weight to move.

sage
lavender
camellia for winter
salvia for flowers all summer
