Pond refill

Hi all

Im looking to put a small pond my garden less a metre in length and about 30cm deep, hopefully just with afew plants and stones in it

just wondering how often it will require water refill due to evaporation throughout the summer?

any one else have experience with small ponds

Ours is about a meter square, but deeper than you’re suggesting. We stick the hose in it ever couple of weeks for 10 mins to top it up.

I have a tiny pond like that. Top it up once a month or less depending on rain. But it is in part shade.

Agree once a month sounds about right. We've just installed a water butt so that we can use rainwater. This is better than tapwater because the chlorine and nitrates in tapwater can sometimes unbalance a pond and contribute to algae growth.

I'm getting a real kick from harvesting rain Grin
