Kiftsgate - please share your experiences, would I be mad?

I have a not very pretty agricultural barn down one side of my garden that I’m keen to hide. It’s about 45 foot long, 10 foot high, with a 30ft silver birch next to it. I visited a village today that was full of gardens with Kiftsgate roses in full bloom and loved the scent and the effect. Would I be mad to plant one?

It’s a beautiful beautiful rose BUT like Wickwar it will rule you not vv! Sounds like you have the space
to let that happen tho!

I seem to remember it putting on 20-30 foot of growth each year - it’s a beast! But a beautiful one

Thank you! I am tempted, but a bit scared. Also thinking of Rosa Banksia Lutea or one other smelly rambler.

10ft is not that tall. Personally I would prefer a coloured rose, at 45 ft you could put 2or 3 smaller ones which might flower at different times.
