Mine are unreal! They seem to be a couple of weeks later than usual but there are SO many buds and the plants are so much bigger than they were.

is this a weather related thing do you think?

We were just saying the same thing today!

Huge beautiful flowers!

Our tree peony flowered a few weeks ago. It's never had so many flowers on it as it had this year.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 25/05/2025 21:19

Gorgeous, but have been and gone already.

MyOtherProfile · 25/05/2025 21:19

No buds 😭

FloraBotticelli · 25/05/2025 21:20

I was just thinking mine hasn’t had many blooms this year :( It’s a red one that lives in the shade and normally blooms loads, so many it doesn’t like the conditions other peonies like?

Thegreenandpurpleone · 25/05/2025 21:25

I’m still waiting for mine to bloom (Wales). Hoping for some lovely flowers this time but they do seem to be a bit later than normal this year.

Styleseeker65 · 25/05/2025 22:15

I’ve got over 20 buds on mine! Some have flowered already but that’s more than double last years tally.

Justgoingforaweeliedown · 25/05/2025 22:21

My pale pink/white ones have flowered and are sensational. Dark red are still buds but they are loosening. With the sudden rain this week, they all fell flat to the ground though so I had to go out and loosely tie them upright. Hopefully the right thing to do, it just didn't feel right to leave them collapsed. Our borders are quite bare after a remodel so going to buy more this year in the hope that they grow and spread as they have this year.

PickledMuffin · 25/05/2025 22:22

I don’t have any but i’d love to see photos of yours when they bloom 🤩

nahthatsnotforme · 25/05/2025 22:23

How strange… my dark red ones are over and done; the pale pink have yet to flower but there are SO many buds I’m sure all the staking in the world won’t help. We’re also forecast rain this week which won’t help

My white ones have so many buds compared to the dark red. They come and go so quickly, don't they @nahthatsnotforme? I'm hoping for some sunshine again soon so that I can sit out and enjoy them or they'll all be gone and I'll have missed them other than from my kitchen window.

EleanorReally · 26/05/2025 07:41

the one in the pot has 12 buds
the one dh got a year ago has a couple
the one i got a few years ago has about 4

i am really pleased

TonTonMacoute · 26/05/2025 10:57

I only planted mine a few years ago and they have never done that much, this taperas is definitely the best ever year. All of them are covered in buds, except one, and the first are just flowering now.

Pinkywoo · 26/05/2025 10:59

I planted 10 in January as bare roots, and all have come up and two have buds! So, so far so good!

longtompot · 26/05/2025 14:13

Considering all of mine are either new or have been moved, most have buds and are about to open! I made a mistake when buying the new ones and planted them out so most didn't make it. Next time I'll pot up first and when showing signs of life then plant out. Not too upset as they were a bargain from Suttons I think, so still got value for money, but sad that they dies and that a lot are the scented ones are the ones who didn't grow and they are by our outside seating area

DiscoPolly · 26/05/2025 18:41

This is their third and best year. I have three flowers and three more buds. I’m delighted and keep going out to admire them.
