Leaves coming off pear tree

I have a 10 year old pear tree in the garden and some of the the leaves are coming off it. It blossomed well and has lots of tiny pears developing, but the leaf coverage isn't great. It's better towards the top of the tree.

Rainfall has been non existent recently, could this be contributing to the problem? Also, there are birds bouncing all over it each day as I have bird feeders in it. Some of the birds are crows and magpies, could this be causing a problem?

Do the leaves look diseased or damaged? Maybe collect a few and then google 'pear tree leaf problems' and look at the images that come up.

No, there's no sign of any disease. They seem a bit smaller compared to how they usually are. The tree is planted on grotty new build soil with rubble underneath. We dug it out when it was planted, but it's never been up to much. I fertilise and add grow bag and topsoil every year to try and improve things and give nutrients.

I don’t know where you are but we’ve had four weeks with no rain and my trees are showing it. I’m watering them.

I'm in the NE. I've watered them today. I water the other plants, but not really the trees. It's such a worry. I wish it would rain properly. The lawn is all cracked too.
