Coffee grinds

Do I really have to dry them out? I want to spread them on the council grass outside our house. The council neglect the grass and it's only cut about 3 times a year - so looks like a prairie just now.

Can I just scatter them or pour them from the cold coffee pot?

They'd all clump together if wet, surely?

I think you're supposed to mix them with compost, it if you insist, then make sure you spread them out, instead of clumping.

Caffeine restricts plant growth so I would be careful. Grass benefits from better drainage rather than mulching so it would be normal to out sand not mulch on grass. Can you not put the coffee grounds on a flower bed instead?

@Geneticsbunny yes, I do have a small flower bed so could do that. I thought the grass could be doing with some nitrogen. Maybe I just need to buy some fertiliser.

Do I need to dry the grinds before I put on the flower bed or can I just add water to the used grinds and pour it on?

Fine to add to the beds wet.
