Want to give some children a pot with compost in as a party bag - so... what seeds are best planted in June and come out soon after [help] It's an old macdonald's theme so thought I could do vegetables.

Sunflowers always VERY pleasing to young children aren't they. And quite hardy and grow like loons.

But not vegetables.

If they were planted in June would it be ages before they saw a result?

Coleus, quick sprouting and effective as the colour is in the leaves and visible early.

Herbs, salad leaves, rocket, pak choi. All fairly quick to germinate & grow.

You can buy fairly cheap pots of about 20 sweet pea plantlets, which you could then put in (instant result v. important for dc's), or see if you could get tomato plantlets cheap?
