Has my catmint died?

I have several catmints planted last year and did well. Died back over winter, but still showing no signs at all of regrowth. I'm near London.

I would have expected it to be sprouting by now. But the mint family is usually as tough as old boots. What soil/position is it in?

Mine has just started to sprout-I thought it had died. But the cat seems determined to kill it off by rubbing herself all over the tiny leaves🙁

It’s late this year, but it’s visible. They tend to catch up once they get started.Keep it well watered in the heat ( water at dusk).

My nepeta is just coming back to life, quite late compared to other perennials.

It is in multiple positions around garden and I have been occasionally watering it, as it been so dry. Everything else is coming back and can't see any obvious issues. So still hope it will come back.

Soil is top soil put in last year a bit clay

One of my nepeta’s has come back & is already about 6-7cms high. Another I thought was completely dead - but I think I see 1 tiny green shoot so I’ll leave it & see what it does.

I have several Nepeta and all have come back vigorously except one. We dug the one that looked dead out and moved it and now it's regrowing.

Is the cat damaging the plant?

I tried to grow that in the greenhouse (because I thought it was safe from the cats there). But they broke in and destroyed the plant so I gave up.
