Is it worth trying the same lettuce seeds in soil somewhere cooler?

Realised my window sill is too warm for germination. Will I have killed them or is it worth trying somewhere cooler?

For the pence it would cost in seeds/compost it is worth a try.
I’ve never not had things germinate on a hot windowsill though, were they scattered on the soil/buried too deep/over or under watered/old seeds?

You don’t need to germinate them inside, you can just sow them directly outside. It’s so much less hassle.
