Help! I think I’ve killed my orange tree!

I’ve had my orange tree for 2 years now and was hoping for fruit this summer but I think I have killed it. I bring it inside in the winter to protect it from frost and move it back outside in the spring; well, this year I think I put it back outside too early and the frost has had it. It’s lost all of its leaves. Is there any way to revive it? I’m absolutely gutted!

I think it has a chance of recovery. Bring it back indoors, trim it back a little, feed and keep everything crossed. Good luck!

My lemon tree has done exactly the same thing- but it definitely wasn't got by the frost as it was still in the greenhouse when it decided to get sick and dump all it's leaves.

Sorry no help, but I get how sad it is!

Mine died too. And my lemon and olive. I live far south but I just don’t think we’ve got the climate for them to live long term.

Mine lives indoors except for early June to mid September and it seems happy. It has about 15 tiny oranges on it at the moment.

Scrape away a little of the bark. If it is green it’s still alive, brown is dead.

They can come back from losing all their leaves, as long as they're not actually dead. It may take a while though. Don't overwater or feed it while it hasn't got leaves or you'll give it even more to cope with. It's a lovely shape and obviously a few years old so I'd be inclined to give it a chance. Maybe get a small lemon or lime as a partner for it so you have something nice in the meantime?

I can see the green branches in the pic. That isn't dead. Just be more patient.

Leave it be for now, wait and see what happens. A lot of plants jettison old leaves in spring to make way for new ones.
