White stuff on seedling soil

Hi,
I pricked out my seedlings last week and noticed a few days later that they had this white stuff all over the soil.

Good old google said it was likely to be overwatering and not enough air circulating (they’re in a mini greenhouse so that’s quite possible) and that it was fine to leave it as it was a fungus that breaks down the compost…

I’ve had them outside during the day since then, but we’ve been away for a few days so did leave them in the mini greenhouse.

I’ve come back and as well as the white stuff (which hasn’t got worse) there are now little yellow/ brown balls.

Any words of wisdom from anyone? I can pot them into new pots with new compost if needed, but if they’ll be ok I’d rather leave them to get a bit bigger before moving them again.

Thanks!

It definitely looks like something fungal! Peat free composts aren’t sterile in the same way as peat based ones were. Definitely improve ventilation, open the greenhouse in the day, close at night. You could try scraping it off and a top dressing on fine grit would help.

@AlwaysGardeningThank you!
Yes, the peat free composts are obviously much better environmentally, but are definitely not the same (we do use peat free!!).
Now we’re home after the weekend, I can open the greenhouse and let them be better ventilated again. I’ll try scraping the top bit off and replacing with some grit too.
Thanks again!

@AlwaysGardening I’ve had them outside during the day for the last couple of days and they’re looking a LOT better!
Thanks for your help. 😊
