Raised beds for herbs? On a budget

Hi

I am looking for some wooden planters/raised beds to use for herbs. The largest will be around 2m long. Does anyone have any recommendations of ones they have that didn’t cost them an arm and a leg? I’ve looked in my local garden centre but they are too expensive.

online recommendations would be great but I don’t want to buy something that doesn’t last.

thanks for your help

If you're on a budget but can drive you could ask a local garage for old tyres and then using a very sharp knife, cut the hole bigger on one side and then lay them on weed membrane where you want them to go. You won't be able to move them once they are filled with soil, so consider placement carefully.

Personally I wouldn’t use tyres for edibles as I’d be worried about chemicals leaching out on the soil. They’re not that difficult to make from lengths of wood. Scaffold boards are good and thick if you can get them.

Our raised bed for herbs is made from old sleepers, screwed together, and lined with plastic sheeting to prevent rot.
