I am trying to figure out what type of tree this is and would love the same in my garden. The owner of the house does not know. Anyone know their blossoms??

Pls help me identify this blossom tree

Is that not cherry blossom? Hard to tell on my phone, but it's the right time for it.

Dodie66 · 11/04/2025 20:13

Looks like cherry blossom to me too

Beautiful, whatever it is!
Try Google Lens.

Crab apple??

SnakesAndArrows · 11/04/2025 20:18

It is cherry, but very difficult to say what variety without in-focus photos. They can be a bit of a beast with shallow roots that spread across lawns and patios. Best find a dwarf variety unless you have a huge garden.

I got the app PictureThis. I pay for it but it has brought great pleasure. You take a photograph of a leaf or flower and it identifies the plant/tree.
If you know anyone with the app they could identify it for you.

I think it's a crab apple - malus floribunda. The blossoms look like apple rather than cherry to me; cherry petals are more tightly grouped.

It might be real apple but I think it's a bit early unless you're somewhere like the west coast.

deeahgwitch · 11/04/2025 20:22

I meant to add it costs me €35 per year. Which is less than €3 a month.

I'd go for crab apple too. We have a lot of old big flowering cherries around us and the trunk just doesn't quite look right.

AuntieDen · 11/04/2025 20:30

flowering pear? are the leaves glossy? I think its quite early for apple but right for pear blossom

WhatMe123 · 11/04/2025 20:46

I'd say with it being white it's more apple, crab apple I'd be inclined to say

AutumnNymph · 11/04/2025 20:49

Chatgpt thinks.its a cherry blossom tree. We have cherry blossom trees in our front yard and this looks very similar.

17to35 · 11/04/2025 20:52

That bark doesn’t look like cherry

Orangebadger · 11/04/2025 23:28

It’s not a crab apple. I’ve never seen any apples on the tree. In the 7 yrs I’ve lived nearby it’s not grown much so I thought the size would be good for a medium sized garden. It’s such a pretty tree, but I didn’t realise about the shallow roots. That would not be so great with the lawn!

The only other thing, is that a few weeks ago the blossom
looks more pink and gradually turns white, is that in keeping with a cherry?
