Hi all, hoping to paint out DCs plastic playhouse outside and wondering if anyone knows which type of paint/ brand will work best and if we'll need a primer? Thanks :)

You’ll need to clean it thoroughly and lightly sand it so it will adhere, in my experience of a few failures where I hoped to avoid sanding.

You need a paint specifically for outdoor plastic. Some need primers, some are apparently self-priming. It will tell you on the tin/spray can.

It has to dry absolutely and completely before a second coat or it will flake off.

Instagram is full of people painting their uPVC windows and using Zinsser primer and saying it's the best thing ever. Whether that is true or just effective advertising I'm not sure but it's one of several primers on the market for plastic and the claim isthat you just need to clean (not sand) your plastic before using it.

@BeaAndBen Thanks for that, ideally hoping for one which I don't need a primer for 😬

@JaninaDuszejko Oo interesting. Do you mean the Zinsser paint or primer? I don't mind sanding before but would be a bonus not to.

Primer. I've not used it myself (yet) but it does seem to be the dominant brand.
