Can anyone ID this shrub?

Another one of DH's specials, he has no idea what it is. I have no idea what it is, either I've tried google lens and its not bringing anything similar up. The leaves are quite small if that helps.
It was quite leggy and growing mainly horizontally, like a big spider, I've chopped it back quite a bit today.

I'm an absolute beginner to gardening, but it reminds me of the 'red Robin' shrubs that I have in my garden

Thanks @Mrspimplepopper but the leaves are smaller than red robin unless there's a smaller variety I'm unaware of.

According to the Plantnet app it could be an Abelia.
