Im thinking of making a wildlife pond in the garden, encourage some new creatures in and get to have a little pond. Has anyone built / created one? ANy tips or pitfalls?

Yes we put in a pond last year. No fish as I want a wildlife pond. It’s been really good. Popped in some plants Got newts, pond skaters and water boatmen now and great watching all the birds drink from it. I put in a ramp for wildlife and the smaller birds splash around and bath on the ramp. We got the Mayfly 500 type. Here’s some photos hope they come up ok. Cat added for scale!

OH, very nice!!

I think thats bigger than I want, smallish garden.
Have you put a pump in, or just using plants?

Just using plants. It’s not been too bad with weed etc. Trying to keep it as natural as possible. I’d really recommend putting a pond in, it’s been a really interesting & fun thing to do. I love watching the Wood Pigeons waddle over for a drink. Even had a Nuthatch on the ramp splashing around and bathing last week. Any size pond will attract so much wildlife etc.
