Greenhouse shading - inside or outside?

I've always put shading netting inside my greenhouse but it's a pain to fix. I'm wondering whether it would be better just to cover the outside? Any ideas? I only used shading paint decades ago and found it too much faff to remove.

If you put it over the outside, how will you open the windows?

I've only ever seen shading, both in person and in advertising, on the inside of greenhouses.

Like the PP said, putting shading over the outside may have an impact on the ability to open windows. Also... how are you going to securely fix screening to the outside of the greenhouse?

Mine has external roller blind shading that accommodates the windows being open.

I always drape over the outside

Thanks. What do you do about the vents?

I use that builders netting so it just kind of drapes with a gap and I have a window that opens and shuts with the heat..it still does it - or you can just have a seam there

you can get spray on shading..I prefer the nettings

My dad always hangs his take over where the roof meets to keep his in place 🤣🤣

does the job!

I use cable ties or wire

i only have plants on the north side of the greenhouse in a raised bed and hang a curtain wire from top corner to top corner (small gaps so can put it through fix it) and run fleece curtains along them - hitch them up when not needed - works well as ghouse gets full sun

This thread has been reactivated! I ended up draping the shading over the outside and it's been fine.
