Tree/shrub for pot in shade?

I’m looking for something different to grow in shaded pots. I’ve got two 40cm pots in my north-east facing front garden, which only gets a bit of morning light. Last year I tried acers, but they were unhappy (overplanted), so I’ve moved them to smaller pots.

I have a Portuguese laurel hedge so don’t want more of that.

The only ideas I’ve got (after way too much googling) are yew or fatsias. I already have lots of fatsias and while yew is okay, it’s not very exciting. Ideally I’d like something tall and evergreen, but not too wide as that would block the front door. Any suggestion welcome 🙂

Euonymus silver queen. Tolerates anything and is beautiful all year.

There is also a golden version that has yellow edged leaves.

Choiysa 'Goldfingers', Leucothoe- one of the smaller cultivars. Not a shrub but Hakonechloa macra.

Thank you for all the suggestions! I’m doing research on all these - very helpful 🙏
