Grass seems for north facing garden

Can anyone recommend a type of grass seed for shaded north facing garden. I had turf laid, but now it's just mud with patches of grass in it. I dint know what else to go it with. I can't afford to shingle and plant it all, and I definitely don't want to have to resort to artificial grass. Thanks

I would think normal seed would be OK, spring is a good time of year to plant? My garden is east facing but shaded by neighbours conifers grass is OK it just doesn't grow during the winter.

I did try adding normal grass seed to my existing patch grass last string, but it didn't take. This is what I am dealing with

Could it be leatherjackets (crane fly larvae) causing the damage?

You can get lawn seed specifically for shady areas. Any garden centre will have it.

TBH that doesn't look too bad for this time of year. Aerate it and add some sand to improve drainage then add a lawn feed and in another few weeks it'll look much healthier. Cutting regularly helps as well. If it still looks bad after that then buy some lawn seed for shady gardens.
