Hi, I am a complete novice in gardening. Bought some tomato plants from homebase as my son wanted to see them grow...watered them, put them in sun, gave food etc....but now I feel the plant is dying...the leaves are all drying up. Any advice...was it too much sun, water or something that I didnot do...Any advice/suggestions appreciated.

are you watering every day? not an expert by any means but i have a good book here with pictures of tomato problems!!

Did you put them into a bigger pot? They need lots of space and although they like lots of sun and are thirst drinkers too much can kill them.
They need a dilute feed when the flowers appear and I alternate with just water then dilute feed.
The other thing could be that the plants were none too healthy when you bought them - perhaps just lob them out and start again.

here is a good tomato info page

I'd be inclined to blame it on the fact that they came from Homebase.

Buy from a proper garden supplier or small independent retailer.

I tried to grow some outside last year but they all died. THis year I have grown them in my hotter than hell conservatory and they love it! They are all doing fine, so my only tip would be to get a greenhouse or put them in a conservatory, and keep them well watered

Thanks a lot all, will blame it on Homebase then and try again. will read the tomato info page.
