Can anyone help me ID these seeds please? The snails have been at my seed box (I’m a newbie at growing veg) and the labels have been chewed through. Thanks

Easier to eliminate. They’re not:
any sort of bean or pea (too rough)
anything in the cabbage family (these have small smooth spherical seeds)
squashes or courgettes (rather flattened light coloured seeds)
cucumber (similar to squashes but smaller)
tomatoes (too large)
lettuce (torpedo shaped smooth seeds)

I dont think they’re one of the beets, which are agglomerations of seeds rather than single seeds - actually, the left one could be. So beetroot, chard, etc.

As to the RH one - what other veg were you growing? Any companion plants?

They look like some kind of allium so either leeks or onions

SpecialSeeds · 19/02/2025 10:34

Thanks for the replies. The companion plants I grew last year were marigolds, Alyssum and Nasturtium.

I did have onions and beetroot, so they could be contenders?

I’ll just have to plant some and see what appears, a magical mystery grow ha.

They're definitely not nasturtiums (too small), and I don't think they're marigolds - those are usually curved like a letter c.

Also not alyssum, which are tiny.

I thought they looked oniony too, but maybe a bit big!

I’ll cross them off the list too then, thanks.

Yes, I-said in my post, LH on could possibly be beetroot.

Let us know when you’ve grown the RH one and identified it!

Thanks all, I’ll try and grow them and come back and you can help me identify the plants (can you tell I’m new to all this? 😆)
