Mowing new grass

When temperatures allow I plan to reseed a small part of my back lawn which has turned to bare soil after workmen walked/ left stuff on it destroying the old grass.
I am disabled so pay someone to mow my grass. I wouldn’t rate him as a gardener although he describes himself as one. All he wants to do is slash and poison stuff and seems to actively dislike plants and nature! He is however cheaper and as long as I limit him to just mowing all is fine.
My question is, should I keep him away from the reseeded bit once it sprouts? And if so for how long? Not sure if I can trust him to set his mower on a higher setting if that is what is required.

Yes, keep him away for a good couple of months from sowing until it is well established. You should then only cut it by a third. It might be a bit patchy initially but quickly thickens out over the course of a season.
