preserving seeds from cherry tomatoes

Anyone know how to do it?

I know nothing about this (was going to say branch ) aspect of gardening but MIL wants to save some seeds to send to relatives.

Buy a packet of cherry tomato seeds and pretend they're from home grown ones?

wash all the mucousy gunk off, air dry them in airing cupboard in a paper bag.

That is what I used to do with flower seeds.
