Uneven patio slabs

Several of the slabs are wobbly . Can we just lift and level each of them by shovelling sand underneath or do we need to use something more substantial? They did originally have some sort of mortar between but this has deteriorated in places.

You can but it's going to be hard to get them properly level and chances are they'll come loose again really soon - if they went wobbly in the first place probably what they were on got washed away by the rain and it will happen again.

I would think you'd be best off using mortar.

Any ideas as to what sort of mortar/mix we should use - wet or dry ? dh doesn't really do diy so the simpler the better !

I need to know this as well LIZS so bumping for you.

I use a bit more cement than that - 4 sand to 1 cement, but that would probably be fine too.
