Tulips - am I way too late??

I know I’m late to plant bulbs but am I too late? Can I plant bulbs in pots and put them in my greenhouse?

In case you can’t tell, I’m a complete novice!

You're not too late get those lovely tulips in there!

Generally speaking, you shouldn't plant tulips before the end of November anyway, and if you're not planting your tulips until then then everything else can wait too 😁

I've planted them in early Feb before. They came up 'late' but we still got a show. Definitely still time!

I plant mine between Xmas and new year. Its been so mild this year

Thank you for the encouragement, I will go ahead and plant some bulbs! They will be going in pots. Any thoughts on whether they will do well in a greenhouse? I’ve got a resident squirrel in my garden who would likely dig them up!

I often end up planting in mid January and tulips come up absolutely fine. Regarding the pesky squirrels, last year I covered all my planted pots with chicken wire lids, no squirrel could get in to dig. I left them on till shoots appeared and then removed them and they didn't touch them.

I've still got the 'last' 300 to do. Will go into January, just but certainly not the latest it's been done

Hopefully you've already planted but in case you haven't, or for anyone else who looks, the advice on here is always to give it a go. If you don't, they definitely won't be any use and if you do, the worst you have to lose is a little time (assuming you've already bought them).

I planted some tulips in a pot that I found in the shed and had forgotten about in very early spring last year and they all flowered.

I also planted some bare root lillies last spring which had been lost in my shed for at least 18 months. They were still in the plastic bag with the tiny amount of compost that they arrived in, I stuck them in a pot and all 3 of them grew. I couldn't believe it! There is absolutely no way they should have survived.
